Beekeepers face many challenges in keeping colonies alive and well throughout the beekeeping season including countering issues ranging from pests, environmental factors, nutritional deficiencies, and pesticides. Diligent inspection practices and timely management actions are often rewarded with success but sometimes management strategies do not go as planned and leave us wondering how we could have done better. Good records help these experiences not be wasted by offering a way to access information about decisions made in the past, turning successful and failed interventions into learning opportunities. Good records help inform us and help us to become better beekeepers over time.

During inspections, we focus on colony health components which can make us aware of potential issues and can help in making more informed management decisions.
