Actions:
Performed August inspections and Varroa sampling (n=9). Treated over wintered colonies (n=13) in yards and colonies from spring packages (n=4) with mite loads over 3 mites per 100 bees.
Observations:
Some treated colonies were VERY defensive when applied OAV. Found one dead colony. One colony that had a queen event was found queen right with a solid brood pattern.
Reflections:
It is always gratifying to see a colony improve from a previous visit. It was a beautiful week for working bees. Wishing we would have applied a second round of formic before it got hot again.
